What Is Power Flushing?

Power flushing is a deep-clean process that forces water and specialist cleaning chemicals through your central heating system at high velocity, dislodging and removing years of built-up sludge, rust, and limescale. The result is a system that heats faster, runs quieter, and costs less to operate, without the expense of a full replacement.

Our Process

Our Power Flushing Process

Before we begin, one of our experienced engineers will carry out a full assessment of your heating system, identifying problem areas, checking radiator temperatures, and determining whether a power flush is the right solution for your home.

 1. System Assessment

Before we begin, one of our experienced engineers will carry out a full assessment of your heating system, identifying problem areas, checking radiator temperatures, and determining whether a power flush is the right solution for your home.

 2. The Flush

We connect our professional-grade power flushing unit directly to your system and circulate a powerful combination of water and cleaning chemicals at high flow and low pressure, systematically breaking down and flushing out sludge, corrosion, and blockages from every radiator and pipe.

 3. Protection & Testing

Once the system is thoroughly clean, we add a high-quality inhibitor to prevent future corrosion and scale build-up. We then test every radiator and check the system's pressure and flow to make sure everything is running exactly as it should before we leave.

Benefits of Power Flushing

Warmer Radiators, Lower Bills

A sludge-free system heats up more quickly and evenly, meaning your boiler doesn't have to work as hard, which directly translates to reduced energy consumption and lower monthly bills.

A Longer Boiler Lifespan

Sludge and corrosion are among the leading causes of premature boiler failure. Regular power flushing protects your boiler's internal components, helping you avoid costly breakdowns and extending the life of your system.

Quieter, Smoother Operation

If your boiler is banging, your pump is noisy, or your system takes an age to get up to temperature, these are classic signs of a system in need of a flush. After treatment, most customers notice an immediate improvement in how quietly and efficiently their heating runs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my heating system needs a power flush?

The most common signs are radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top, an unusually noisy boiler or pump, slow heating times, or a system that repeatedly loses pressure. If you're experiencing any of these, it's worth getting your system assessed by one of our engineers.

How long does a power flush take?

Most domestic power flushes take between 4 and 8 hours, depending on the size of your system and how heavily it's affected. Our engineer will give you a more accurate time estimate after the initial assessment.

Will a power flush cause any mess or damage to my home?

When carried out by a trained professional, a power flush is a clean and controlled process. Our engineers take every precaution to protect your home, and all waste water is disposed of responsibly. There is no damage to pipework or radiators when the job is done correctly.

How often should I have a power flush?

As a general guide, we recommend a power flush every 5 to 6 years, or whenever a new boiler is being installed into an existing system. Many boiler manufacturers also recommend a power flush as part of their warranty conditions.

Can a power flush be carried out on any heating system?

Power flushing is suitable for most standard central heating systems. However, if your pipework is in very poor condition or significantly corroded, our engineer will advise you on the best course of action during the initial assessment to avoid any risk of damage.
